I’m sure you are all aware that the new changes to the Highway Code will come into affect on 29th January
There are planned changes to ‘giving priority’ at junctions to pedestrians from all road users, including cyclists. (so, road users turning INTO a junction, will now be expected to give way to pedestrians on the footway, waiting to cross )
Also the changes in advice given to cyclists, encouraging them to take a more central position in their lane when approaching junctions, passing parked cars and when in narrow roads
Please do note the changes but as always, exercise common sense and respect for all road users. We all know that there are a minority of cyclists and motorists who seem to have no respect or consideration for other road users. Not NEV thankfully. We also know that there will be some motorists to whom the changes simply serve to annoy them even further so please do take care and, if in any doubt at all, just stop and let the car go. It’s simply not worth getting into a potentially harmful situation.
