This weekend saw one of our NEV members tackle a mammoth challenge for charity
Ian Aston and his brother and son in law decided in their wisdom that cycling 205 miles across the country between sunrise and sunset seemed like a fun way to spend time together, bearing in mind that Ians cycling journey started pretty slowly to say the least, shiny bike bought in 2015 which saw a total of 480 ish miles done in 4 and a half years, throw in a bit of lockdown boredom and voila 6 months later smashed out over a 1000 miles, soon after this he was invited to group ride with NEV and has since gone from strength to strength as is evident from this last endeavour,
Chase the Sun
The weather at the start line was very favourable, and all was looking good if not a tad early for most people given that sunrise was at 4.39,, armed with percy pigs and gels and feeling pretty good off they went but as the day was getting on and they were moving further west the weather decided to throw in a curve ball, rain and cold do not make cycling easy, undeterred but possibly regretting life decisions they battled on and reached the finish line with time to spare, I also have it on good authority that his NEV kit was worn under the other gear 😁
An absolutely epic achievement I'm sure you will agree,..... Pretty sure his bike may be for sale, lol!!
Ians write up on his Facebook page is well worth a read and I'm pretty sure that no one will mind if I pop his link in here for the Acorn Children's Hospice Trust

Great work Ian. CTS is without doubt the best ride (not a race) about. But then I may be a tad biased!
