North Essex Velo & Friends – Mallorca 2022 22-29 April 2022

A brave band of NEV’s and friends made the journey to Mallorca in October to sample the roads, the hills, the food and the fun the island has to offer and we had a blast! Both on and off the bike! We won’t let Omicron put us off our stride as we make our plans for our club cycling week in April 2022.

It’s only 20 weeks until the NEV masses once again rollout on the smooth roads of Mallorca so it’s already time to start thinking about planning for the spring season and the next NEV adventure.

This holiday will cater for ALL members, irrespective of ability level, and there will be as many as five riding groups should the spread of those abilities require it. We would typically aim to offer guided rides from 12-19mph over a normal week in Mallorca.

For those that have been to Mallorca before, over the course of the week’s riding we will aim to take in new roads, climbs and cafes, not just ticking the same old boxes i.e. Calobra, lluc, Petra etc. Whilst of course we would take in the classics, the plan would be to see the very best of Mallorca, which often means heading where the crowds don’t go!

Accommodation for the group will be in the Zafiro Tropic hotel, which is in the heart of bustling Alcudia.

This 4 star hotel has rooms that are modern and well appointed, and the restaurants and bars are clean, stylish and lively. Washing machines are on site to keep kit fresh and clean, and there is a boutique/workshop selling a variety of spares/kit/nutrition and accessories and where basic repairs and maintenance can be undertaken. Whilst hire Bikes are available, the workshop on site means that anyone that wants to take their own bike can rely on having help in assembly and set up upon arrival.

The hotel restaurant in particular is fantastic for hungry cyclists, offering a massive choice of high quality food, with vegans and vegetarians well catered for.

The prices for our group (assuming we have a booking for 12 or more riders) would be as follows;

£525.00 per person (Sharing Twin/Double – 7 nights Half Board Accommodation i.e Dinner B&B)

£675.00 per person (Single Occupancy – 7 nights Half Board Accommodation i.e Dinner B&B)

The Zafiro hotel group are very keen to rebuild after the devastating effect of the COVID pandemic on their Industry, so in addition to these competitive rates they are able to offer our group a further 5% discount providing bookings and deposits are received before 31/12/21.

This will actually reduce the price for sharers to £499.00 and for singles it will reduce the price to £641.00, superb value for this complete package for our riders.

The following benefits are included within the price.......

Standard Airport transfers

Opening night ‘meet and greet’ with complimentary drinks

7 Nights luxurious 4* accommodation (or as many as are required – see note below re flights)

High quality breakfast and dinners

6 guided rides (5 full days, 1 recovery day) to suit all abilities, featuring new roads and climbs to keep everything fresh.

Visits to the best cafes and beauty spots on the island

Daily ride food selection (nuts/fruit/cakes) at bike station

Complimentary welcome pack to include;

Ciclos Major shoebag containing.......

2 x Ciclos Major 500ml Drinks bottles

A Ciclos Major neck tube (buff)

Starter pack of Secret Training ride nutrition

Ciclos Major ID wallet/phone case

With the many changes at Stansted since the pandemic, straightforward Saturday to Saturday flights are now not always available with our preferred carrier (Jet2.com) who we feel give the best service for cyclists, particularly if taking a bike. Therefore it may be prudent to book Friday to Friday, or perhaps Friday to Sunday, to give a more leisurely break. There are of course still Ryanair flights from Stansted, or EasyJet from Luton or Gatwick.

If NEV members and friends wish to take advantage of varied flights and spend a bit longer In Paradise, extra days will be charged at a pro rata daily rate, which is £75 per day for sharers (£71.25 if booked this year) and £96.43 for singles (£91.60 if booked this year).

With travel scenarios returning to normal, there will once again be a standard deposit of £100 required with all bookings.

Whist this is a standard non-refundable deposit, naturally if the trip is unable to go ahead because of any Covid related reason, all deposits will be returned without question.

Further details, testimonials and pictures etc are all available on the website of our mallorquin partner www.ciclosmajor.com

Follows a link to the booking form for the trip, simply make your own booking and forward with flight details.

I trust this all makes sense, if there are any questions re the trip call or message me (Antony) on 07881-502505 or email me on antony@ciclosmajor.com

If you wish to check any details or get some feedback as to the October trip, I’m sure Sara Lees, Jonny Kempster, Mark Smith, Carl Chart or Duncan Gilbert will be happy to answer any queries

Finally, see our Mallorca 21 Gallery on the website for a taste of what you can expect

See you there!
